Entrance Criteria
AIC operates a selective entry admissions policy, based on the requirement that students demonstrate a self-motivated attitude to learning and based on English and Mathematics placement tests. This ensures students will thrive in the IB curriculum and will be successful in gaining admission to quality universities in New Zealand and overseas.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
Students are required to have successfully completed their secondary education up to the equivalent of New Zealand Year 11 or successfully completed the Preparation Year Programme for IB Diploma with a grade average of 4 and a minimum Research Project grade of C. Overseas students need to have commenced Year 12 with a minimum IELTS level of 5.0 or equivalent.
The minimum age recommended by IBO is 16. However under exceptional circumstances AIC would consider an applicant aged 15 years at the start of the school year
Preparation Year Programme for IB Diploma
Students are required to have successfully completed their secondary education up to the equivalent of New Zealand Year 10. Overseas students need to have commenced Year 11 with a minimum IELTS level of 4.5 or equivalent.
The minimum age recommended is 15. However under exceptional circumstances AIC would consider an applicant aged 14 years at the start of the school year.
