Tony was educated at the University of Auckland where he graduated with a BCom degree, and the Harvard Business School where gained his MBA.
He is a Strategy Consultant and Company Director. His previous roles include being Chief Executive and director of a public listed company and Chief Executive of a large New Zealand law firm.
He is also involved in a number of other companies and not for profit organisations, including the Young Enterprise Trust over the last 21 years, Chairmanship of the Play it Strange Trust to encourage song writing in schools, and President of the King’s College Old Collegians’ Association. He is a Past President and currently a committee member for the Harvard Business School Association of New Zealand. He sits on the advisory board to the Dean of Business and Law at AUT University.
He is Chairman of Auckland department store Smith and Caughey Ltd, founded in 1880 by Marianne Caughey who married Mr William H Smith. Nearby to AIC is Craigavon Park, acquired by Mr Smith around 1900 and gifted by Mrs Smith in 1929 to the City of Auckland as a park. The gift celebrated the visit to Auckland of a childhood friend of Mrs Smith, Lord Craigavon, the Prime Minister of Northern Ireland.
